Cleve Rugby Football Club

29 August 2025

Dogs, notice to members and visitors.

Following the recent AGM members have agreed to modify the Club policy that prohibits dogs from the Hayfields site:

to allow members and patrons to bring dogs onto Club premises whilst engaged in legitimate Club or commercial activities, or other events (unless specifically prohibited from that event or activity) and whilst following specific Club rules covering dog access.

The default position is the ban on dogs remains but that dogs can be admitted in specific areas in certain circumstances.

The intention is to allow families with dogs to enjoy Our Club’s facilities, it is not intended to provide a dog walking venue.

The Club grounds are private property, persons entering without good reason or who enter other than through the designated visitor entrance, with or without dogs are trespassing, and should be asked to leave the premises.

Rules

1. Dogs to always be under full control and on leads (leads to be fixed and no more than 1.2m) and handlers to fully comply with all current legal requirements about banned breeds etc.

2. Dogs should be fully exercised before entering club grounds and handlers must carry suitable bags and clear incidents of fouling immediately.

3. Dogs and handlers may only venture onto the grassed pitch areas (beyond the paved first team perimeter, patio, paddock, and car park) when spectating games or training sessions and should endeavour to avoid crossing or standing on playing areas.

4. Dogs, except for properly designated support dogs, are not to enter the Clubhouse, changing room or function room areas.

5. Dogs to remain calm and under control when accompanying spectators and not cause a nuisance, referees, coaches or other officials may ask handlers to remove any dog that they consider to be a distraction or danger to players or spectators.

6. Management, officials and staff have the right to ask persons disregarding the rules to leave the premises.

The members decision to relax the blanket ban on dogs at Our Club is intended to enhance our members and visitors experience. Most dog owners are responsible people who know their dogs and their habits well and will manage their pets visit to suit their needs. Please consider the dog’s welfare and the welfare of other dogs and people when at Cleve and take advantage of the fantastic dog walking areas just off site where dogs can be extensively exercised before coming onto our grounds, also please be helpful and friendly to visitors and share your knowledge.

Please report any issues initially to the senior member of staff on duty or to a member of management, or ultimately in writing to the Club Secretary secretary@cleverugby.co.uk

Thank you

Steve Bracey, Hon. Secretary.
