Volunteer role - Director of Rugby

Dear Club members,

An opportunity has arisen to take up an important and key voluntary role at the club. This role will be ideal for someone looking to start off or return to a non coaching leadership role in an established rugby club. The role spec is shown below with a link for any expressions of interest in this post. If you want to talk more about the detail first please make contact with our club executive team and we will help to answer any questions.

Support and help will be provided to any succesful applicant with a period of handover and transition from the current DoR. 

Director of Rugby - Role Specification

Reporting in to the Cleve RFC Executive Committee

Chairman, Treasurer and Vice Chairman 

Purpose

To provide leadership of coaching resources and the coaching of individuals and teams to achieve success on and off the field.

Key Objectives 

This voluntary role will maintain a consistent senior section through careful panning and organisation, whilst leading a thriving junior section. Being proactive in the development of all players and coaches to proudly participate within a community rugby club.

Senior Rugby

  • Management and recruitment of the coaching team for the 1st and 2nd XV
  • Training and Match Day attendance
  • Player recruitment and relationship management of existing players
  • Delivery of the club strategy and processes for senior player development
  • Monthly reporting to the Executive Committee
  • Initiate, co-ordinate and oversee the club kit provider
  • Management of the club medical team
  • Organisation of pre-season friendlies
  • Match day organisation, to include travel to away games
  • Preparation of match day officials for home games, to include club touch judges
  • Organisation of catering for home and away games
  • Facility allocation for home and away teams
  • Oversee club volunteers for match days
  • Co-ordinate pitch maintenance with the 3rd party groundsman
  • Representation of the players at disciplinary hearings
  • Annual equipment audits and reordering
  • To oversee the RugbySafe and Safeguarding roles at Cleve and provide all support required
  • Interface with the club lottery scheme for rugby related funding
  • Ensure all players are signed up Cleve RFC members
  • To work alongside the Treasurer to deliver the Senior Rugby budget

Minis and Junior Rugby

  • To work alongside the club Minis and Junior Chairman to deliver a successful youth section
  • To develop the current club strategy, or work to deliver modern methods of player development
  • To lead or provide support to the M + J Chairman in the recruitment of age group coaches and players
  • To co-ordinate the annual kit order
  • To provide equipment for each age group on a yearly basis
  • To work to deliver the annual minis festival
  • To organise and deliver coaching development for each age group
  • To facilitate entry in to other rugby tournaments and cup competitions
  • Ensure match day catering provisions are made for all teams

Overall Club Function

  • To work with the current club communications team for delivery of newsletters and promotion of the club itself
  • To lead the rugby sections inclusion within sponsorship events such as kit draws and sponsor days
  • To promote the Cleve RFC rugby section within local universities, colleges and schools
  • To interface with 3rd party companies, clubs or organisations wishing to hire rugby facilities at Cleve RFC
