Dear members, players and friends,
For the past five years David Partington has committed himself fully to club life and busy executive roles supporting Cleve RFC. Players will know how hard he worked and the commitment he made to the senior playing teams as the Director of Rugby, and more recently over the past two years he has juggled that role with that of the Chairman of the Club.
Dave has done a great job with the Executive Committee in stabilising the club finances, improving club experience for members and formulating a plan for the future.
For most volunteers one of these posts would be a busy burden, and recently starting a new professional working career and managing a young family have rightly taken priority for Dave. As a result with a new election period and AGM looming, Dave has taken the difficult decision to step down from both posts in order to prioritise his private and family interests. His endeavour, commitment and loyalty to Cleve RFC will be missed by his fellow executive committee members and everyone, but we all wish Dave well and thank him for his huge contribution to club life. The executive committee hope that they will be able to continue to draw on his vast experience of running the club as we step forward.
In order to continue the day to day management of the club ahead of the next AGM, the executive committee met on the 20/05/21 and have agreed to an interim chair being appointed. Simon Wilstead the current U15s coach and volunteer club communications officer will step up in the short term to support the executive in this role. Simon can be contacted via chair@cleverugby.co.uk if anyone wishes to raise any matters with him.
To that end it is important to announce the date of the Annual General Meeting which will be on Thursday 5th August 8pm in the Bromley Suite. A note will be sent to all members regarding the arrangements. If any members seek to stand for an elected executive committee post please notify the Club Secretary, Steve Bracey by email ASAP - stevebracey@hotmail.co.uk
